we all know that education is severely demonized in this religion.
and that the elders are appointed based on how many meetings they attend, hours they put in on the ministry and general attitude to other elders (as apposed to, you know, actual theological training and counseling) - so my question is, what were your elders occupations outside the kingdom hall?.
in my old congregation our elders consisted of:.

3) Government Appraiser

Voodoo originated in Haiti during the French Colonial Period. It was based on a tribal religion somewhere in West Africa (possibly the Kingdom of Dahomey) and was brought to Haiti by African slaves in the 17th century. The word “Voodoo” is derived from the word “vodu” of the Dahomey language and generally means spirit or god. Since Haiti was isolated during much of its early history, the Voodoo religion eventually developed its own unique traditions and became more Satanic during the 18th and 19th centuries.
The use of singing, drumming and dancing during Haitian voodoo rituals later evolved into several other musical genres and traditions throughout the Caribbean, such as the “Bomba y Plena” which is played primarily during Christmas time in Puerto Rico. So I find it strange that this music and dance would be played at the 2016 Special Convention to welcome visitors from around the world, including Governing Body Member Mark Sanderson.
never a jw.

an hour ago i went to bid good bye my two brothers in law and their wives (all elders/elderettes).
Whomever was in charge of planning this Special Convention obviously failed to do their homework. The music that was being played throughout this convention was “Bomba y Plena” which is derived from music that was played by enslaved Africans in Haiti during their satanic rituals in the 18th and 19th century, especially when practicing voodoo.
Also, this music (along with the costumes, the food being served, etc.) are all associated with Christmas in Puerto Rico. In fact, you will likely not hear this music, see these costumes, or even eat some of these foods during any other time of the year.
So this is all very puzzling to me.
attention lurkers... monday, october 1, 2012 is the 98th anniversary of jesus' rulership!i'll just let the watchtower magazine speak for itself...october 1, 1914, on taking his place at the breakfast table in the brooklyn bethel dining-room, he in a strong voice denoting conviction announced: the gentile times have ended!
-watchtower july 15 1950 page 216 pargraph 1 those seven appointed times of the nations ended in the early autumn of 1914, about october 1. before then the good news of the established kingdom could not be preached.
-watchtower october 15 1955 page 623 paragraph 7october 1, 1914, is now more than forty-two years ago and the kingdoms fight at armageddon is fast nearing.
102nd Anniversary of Jesus' rulership is coming in a few days. Are you prepared?
in my old congregation there are two brothers (non related) who are in the early 30s.
they've never dated girls.
they're "best friends".
km august 2014, page 3 paragraph 6(article for this week's service meeting):.
"the month of october 2014 will see the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the kingdom.
for this occasion a special edition of the watchtower will be on this theme.".
has anyone else noticed how alarm bells go off inside a jw mind as soon as they hear someone that "is out" refer to the leaders of this org as "watchtower"?
i've chatted with a few friends now about my doubts and each and every time i've started using phrases such as "watchtower said this" or "watchtower did that", i can almost see their heads about to explode in anger, as if they've just realized they are talking to the lucifer himself.
some have even interrupted and corrected me by reminding me that it's not "watchtower", it's "god's organization".
Just to piss them off, I use "The Watchtower Bible And Tract Society of Pennsylvania (or New York)"....
what's is the goal of this religion?.
i mean, if it's for money they could do a lot more like other religions do: tithing, paying for prayers from the gb, selling "miracles", selling "blessed" items, selling courses.. if its for power then what are they hoping to do with that power?
they dont seem to do anything.
The goal is to increase the Rothschild Empire's revenue.
